Listen to Chants

by Robin Armstrong

This is a section where you will be able to listen to and download chanting samples. Much of the chanting  here will be radical and innovative, and yet it will still fit within the definition of congregational chanting.

Congregational chanting of God’s name is said to be the main way to love or enlightenment in the Age of Kali. The maha mantra of Hare Krshna Hare Krshna Krshna Krshna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare chanted around the world courtesy of ISKON,  the Hare Krishna temples and the devoted work of Sri A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami, and his gurus. This was not a random development but a long evolved plan to spread God’s word around the world. It is believed that simply by chanting one can get to God. It is also believed that even by simply hearing the maha mantra one can be freed of material attachments and come to Krishna. It is for this reason that loud verbal chanting in groups is encouraged. These groups are also encouraged to go out into the streets and general population where people can hear the name of God and find light in the darkness of this Kali Age.

There are many ways to chant Hari Om. Percussive Chanting is one of them with as many varieties and there are rhythms. There will be many examples of percussive chanting to be presented.

There will also be examples of chanting sound mandalas as a group.
